Meeting of the United States-Bahrain Joint Forum on Environmental Cooperation and Request for Comments on the Meeting Agenda and the 2017-2021 Work Program

The Department of State is providing notice that the governments of the United States and the Kingdom of Bahrain (the governments) intend to hold a Joint Forum on Environmental Cooperation (Joint Forum) and a public session in Manama, Bahrain, on March 7, 2018, pursuant to paragraphs 2-5 of the Memorandum of Understanding on Environmental Cooperation between the Governments of the United States and the Kingdom of Bahrain, which was signed September 14, 2004. During the Joint Forum, the governments will discuss how the United States and Bahrain can cooperate to protect the environment, review past bilateral environmental cooperation, and identify priority projects pursuant to the 2017-2021 Work Program on Environmental Cooperation (Work Program), approved in August 2017. The Department of State invites members of the public to submit written comments on items to include on the meeting agenda or in the 2017-2021 Work Program. The Department of State also invites interested persons to attend a public session to learn more about the work of the Joint Forum and the new Work Program, and to provide advice or comments on its implementation.

Notice of Determinations; Culturally Significant Objects Being Imported for Exhibition-Determinations: “Revealing the Hidden: Byzantine Icons From Thessaloniki and Patmos” Exhibition

Notice is hereby given of the following determinations: I hereby determine that certain objects being imported from abroad pursuant to an agreement with their foreign owner or custodian for temporary display in the exhibition "Revealing the Hidden: Byzantine Icons From Thessaloniki and Patmos" at the Museum of the Bible, Washington, District of Columbia, and at possible additional exhibitions or venues yet to be determined, are of cultural significance, and, further, that their temporary exhibition or display within the United States as aforementioned is in the national interest. Passports: Expanding Online Passport Renewal Overseas

The Department proposes to amend 22 CFR 51.21 by consolidating requirements for persons applying by mail and online in the United States and overseas. This proposed change includes expanding online passport application availability to qualified applicants located in foreign countries. In addition, the Department is proposing to remove the requirement that an applicant's most recently issued passport must have a year or less of remaining validity to qualify to submit an online passport application. Finally, the Department is proposing technical corrections to 51.8(b) to change "on-line" to read "online" for consistency.
