Today, EPA is proposing to rescind its prior findings that the 1-hour ozone national ambient air quality standard (NAAQS) and its accompanying designations and classifications no longer apply in certain areas. The EPA had previously taken final action regarding the applicability of the 1-hour standard for various areas on June 5, 1998, July 22, 1998, and June 9, 1999.
