Medical Use of Byproduct Material; Proposed Revision, Reopening of Public Comment Period

On August 13, 1998, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) published for public comment a proposed rule to revise its regulations governing the medical use of byproduct material (63 FR 43516). The comment period for the proposed rule expired on November 12, 1998. A number of comments noted that the original 90-day comment period was too short to review, thoroughly understand, and comment on the proposed changes in the regulations that govern the use of byproduct material. In response to those comments and to ensure that all of the parties affected by the proposed changes have an opportunity to provide comments, the Commission has decided to reopen the comment period.
