Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act Provisions; Fisheries of the Northeastern United States; Extension of Emergency Fishery Closure Due to the Presence of the Toxin That Causes Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning
Summary
The FDA has extended a temporary closure of Federal waters in the Northeastern United States due to the presence of the toxin that causes paralytic shellfish poisoning. The closure, which was first published in 2005, will remain in place until oceanographic conditions and alga sampling data indicate it is safe to harvest bivalve molluscan shellfish.
