Notification of Availability and Request for Comment: Revision to the Voluntary Standard for Full-Size Baby Cribs

Safety Standard for Crib Mattresses

In 2022, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a consumer product safety standard for crib mattresses under section 104 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). The standard incorporated by reference ASTM F2933-21, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Crib Mattresses, with modifications to make the standard more stringent. The CPSIA sets forth a process for updating mandatory standards for durable infant or toddler products that are based on a voluntary standard, when a voluntary standards organization revises the standard. Consistent with the CPSIA update process, this direct final rule updates the mandatory standard for crib mattresses to incorporate by reference ASTM's 2025 version of the voluntary standard, while maintaining certain modifications.

Agency Information Collection Activities; Extension of Collection; Safety Standard for Adult Portable Bed Rails

As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC or Commission) announces that the Commission has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a request for extension of approval of information collection requirements associated with the Safety Standard for Adult Portable Bed Rails. OMB previously approved the collection of information under control number 3041-0192. OMB's most recent extension of approval will expire on August 31, 2026. On April 24, 2026, CPSC published a notice in the Federal Register to announce the agency's intention to seek extension of approval of the collection of information. The Commission did not receive any public comments. Therefore, by publication of this notice, the Commission announces that CPSC has submitted to OMB a request for extension of approval of that collection of information.

The standard incorporated by reference ASTM F1821- 19[epsiv]\1\, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toddler Beds, the voluntary standard for toddler beds that was in effect at the time. ASTM has now issued a revised standard, ASTM F1821-26. Consistent with the CPSIA, this direct final rule updates the mandatory standard to incorporate by reference ASTM's 2026 version of the voluntary standard.

The standard incorporated by reference ASTM F2088-24, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant and Cradle Swings, the voluntary standard for infant and cradle swings that was in effect at the time. ASTM has now issued a revised standard, ASTM F2088-25. Consistent with the CPSIA, this direct final rule updates the mandatory standard to incorporate by reference ASTM's 2025 version of the voluntary standard.

ASTM has now issued a revised standard, ASTM F1004-25. Consistent with the CPSIA, this direct final rule updates the mandatory standard to incorporate by reference ASTM's 2025 version of the voluntary standard.
