Saleen Automotive Inc. has petitioned NHTSA for a temporary exemption from all requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 126, "Electronic stability control for light vehicles," and from the air bag requirements of FMVSS No. 208, "Occupant crash protection," for its newly-designed S1 model. Saleen is seeking a one-year exemption from these standards, asserting that compliance with these standards would cause substantial economic hardship, and that it has tried in good faith to comply with the standards. NHTSA is publishing this notice of receipt of the application in accordance with its exemption regulations, and has not made any judgment on the merits of the application.
