Chlormequat Chloride Reregistration Eligibility Decision for Low Risk Pesticide; Notice of Availability

This notice announces the availability of EPA's Reregistration Eligibility Decision (RED) for the pesticide, chlormequat chloride, and opens a public comment period on the RED, related risk assessments, and other support documents. Chlormequat chloride is a plant growth regulator registered for use on ornamental plants grown in greenhouses, nurseries and shadehouses. Chlormequat chloride has no food or feed uses, or U.S. tolerances associated with its use. EPA has reviewed the low risk pesticide, chlormequat chloride, through a modified, streamlined version of the public participation process that the Agency uses to involve the public in developing pesticide reregistration and tolerance reassessment decisions. Through these programs, EPA is ensuring that all pesticides meet current health and safety standards.
