This notice announces the First Quarterly Meeting of members of the Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network. CIREN is a collaborative effort to conduct research on crashes and injuries at eight Level 1 Trauma Centers which are linked by a computer network. Researchers can review data and share expertise, which could lead to a better understanding of crash injury mechanisms and the design of safer vehicles.

Agency Information Collection Activities; Submission to the Office of Management and Budget for Review and Approval; Request for Comment; Driver Monitoring System (DMS) in SAE L2 Driver Support Systems

In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA), this notice announces that the Information Collection Request (ICR) summarized below will be submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval. The ICR describes the nature of the information collection and its expected burden. This ICR is for a new collection of information for which NHTSA intends to seek OMB approval for a one-time voluntary experiment on drivers' interactions with SAE Level 2 (L2) systems equipped with Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS). A Federal Register notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting public comments on the following information collection was published on August 5, 2025 (Docket No. NHTSA-2025-0056), and NHTSA received one comment.

NHTSA invites public comments about the agency's intention to request approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for a new information collection. Before a Federal agency can collect certain information from the public, it must receive approval from OMB. Under procedures established by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, before seeking OMB approval, Federal agencies must solicit public comment on proposed collections of information, including extensions and reinstatement of previously approved collections. This document describes a collection of information request, titled "Novel Human- Machine Interface (HMI) Designs", for which NHTSA intends to seek OMB approval to conduct a one-time study.

This document describes a currently approved collection of information for which NHTSA intends to seek approval from OMB for extension with modification on NHTSA's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and Non-Traffic Surveillance (NTS). A Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on the following information collection was published on November 18, 2025. Twenty-four comments were received.

In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA), this notice announces that the Information Collection Request (ICR) summarized below will be submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval. NHTSA seeks comment on a reinstatement of a previously approved information collection regarding event data recorders (EDRs). EDRs are devices voluntarily equipped in vehicles that record technical data related to vehicle operation and safety system performance. A Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on this information collection was published on July 22, 2025. NHTSA received one public comment that was not relevant to the information collection request.
