The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that Rohm and Haas Co. has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of 4,5-dichloro-2-n- octyl-3(2H)-isothiazolone as a preservative and slimicide in the manufacture of paper and paperboard in contact with food.
