The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that Akzo Nobel Chemical Co. has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of monoester of -hydro- -hydroxy-poly(oxyethylene) poly(oxypropylene) poly(oxyethylene) (15 mole minimum) blocked copolymer derived from low erucic acid rapeseed oil as a component of defoaming agents used in the washing of sugar beets for processing into sugar.
