The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is amending the food additive regulations to provide for the safe use of N-[4- (aminocarbonyl)phenyl]-4-[[1-[[(2,3-dihydro-2-oxo-1H-benzimidazol-5- yl)amino]carbonyl]-2-oxopropyl]azo]benzamide (C. I. Pigment Yellow 181) as a colorant in all polymers intended for use in contact with food. This action is in response to a petition filed by Hoechst Celanese Corp.
