The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that Ashland Chemical Co. has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of polypropylene glycol with a molecular weight of 1,200 to 3,000 as a defoaming agent in water for sliced potatoes.
