The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that Ashland Chemical Co., has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of polypropylene glycol with a molecular weight range of 1,200-3,000 grams per mole (g/mol), as a defoaming agent in processing beet sugar and yeast.
