On December 30, 1993, the Acting Regional Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region VIII, approved the application by the State of South Dakota to administer and enforce the national pollutant discharge elimination system (NPDES) program for regulating discharges of pollutants into waters within the State.
