In accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, 5 U.S.C. 552a, the Department of Homeland Security proposes to update and reissue the Department of Homeland Security system of records notice currently titled," Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services--006 Fraud Detection and National Security Data - System and renaming it Fraud Detection and National Security Records." This system of records assists the Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in performing its statutory missions including strengthening the integrity of the nation's legal immigration system by ensuring that immigration benefits are not granted to individuals that may pose a threat to national security and/ or public safety. In addition, this system of records assists the Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' recording, tracking, and managing immigration inquiries, investigative referrals, law enforcement requests, and case determinations involving benefit fraud, criminal activity, public safety and national security concerns.
