On April 22, 2026, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a rule titled "National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants: Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production Facilities and Natural Gas Transmission and Storage Facilities; Technology Review and Reconsideration."
