The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that BP Amoco Chemicals, Inc. has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of poly(oxy[1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diyloxy-1,4-phenylenesulfonyl-1,4- phenylene) prepared by the reaction of biphenol and 4,4'- dichlorodiphenylsulfone as articles or components of articles intended for contact with food.
