Treatment of Limited Liability Companies Under the Federal Election Campaign Act

The Commission is seeking comments on how to treat limited liability companies (``LLC'') for purposes of the Federal Election Campaign Act (``FECA'' or the ``Act''). LLC's are non-corporate business entities, created under State law, that have characteristics of both partnerships and corporations. While the Commission is proposing that these entities be treated as partnerships for purposes of the Act, please note that no final decision has yet been reached on any of the issues discussed in this Notice.
