On August 29, 1997, the USDA-Forest Service published a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for revising the Chippewa and Superior Land and Resource Management Plans. The Comment period on that notice closed on October 28, 1997. The Forest Service has reopened the comment period until November 28, 1997 to allow another thirty one days for public comment.
