The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that Ciba Specialty Chemicals Corp. has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of benzenesulfonic acid, 4-chloro-5-methyl-2-[[4,5-dihydro-3-methyl-5-oxo- 1-(3-sulfophenyl)-1H-pyrazo-4-yl]azo], ammonium salt (C.I. Pigment Yellow 191:1) as a colorant in polymers intended for use in contact with food.
