Resumo

In settlement of alleged violations of federal law prohibiting unfair or deceptive acts or practices and unfair methods of competition, this consent order prohibits, among other things, an Iowa- based telemarketer of magazine subscriptions and 11 of its dealers from misrepresenting either that they are selling magazines or the cost and conditions of the subscriptions they are selling. The consent order also prohibits the respondents from: threatening and harassing consumers in order to collect payments; failing to honor offers that allow cancellation; and violating the Electronic Fund Transfer Act.
