Availability of a Draft Recovery Plan for the Snake River Aquatic Species for Review and Comment

Resumo

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announces the availability for public review of a draft recovery plan for the Snake River aquatic species. The Snake River species include five Snake River molluscs listed as threatened (Bliss Rapids Snail) or endangered (the Snake River Physa, Banbury Springs lanx or limpet, Utah Valvata Snail and Idaho Springsnail) (57 FR 59244), three additional molluscs and one fish taxa currently listed as Federal candidate species, and two State of Idaho Sensitive fish taxa. The aquatic habitats essential to all these species throughout the Snake River are similar and cannot be isolated for recovery purposes. The primary and immediate recovery objectives of this Plan include implementing the conservation measures to prevent the extinction and/or further decline of existing colonies of the listed snails by eliminating or reducing known threats. Basic information necessary to establish recovery criteria so that the listed species can be reclassified or delisted will also be collected. Long term objectives are to reverse declining habitat trends and restore the Snake River ecosystem so that self-reproducing colonies of the four endangered and one threatened sna

National Wildlife Refuge System; 2026-2027 Station-Specific Hunting and Sport Fishing Regulations

We, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), propose to open or expand hunting opportunities on 111 field stations, including 107 units of the National Wildlife Refuges System (Refuge System or NWRS) and 4 units of the National Fish Hatchery System (Hatchery System or NFHS). This includes opening hunting or sport fishing opportunities for the first time on 14 National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) and 3 National Fish Hatcheries (NFH). The proposed actions will open or expand more than 1,450 opportunities for hunting and fishing across the NWRS and NFHS. In accordance with Secretary's Order 3447 and Director's Order 233, we also propose to make changes to existing station-specific regulations in order to improve the clarity and accuracy of regulations, reduce the regulatory burden on the public, ensure consistency across FWS lands and waters, and comply with a Presidential mandate for plain-language standards.

Notice of Intent To Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for Production Site Development in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended (NEPA), and the Naval Petroleum Reserves Production Act of 1976, as amended (NPRPA), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Alaska State Office intends to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to evaluate the environmental effects of a rulemaking that the BLM expects to initiate to streamline the authorization of the construction and operation of qualifying production sites and authorization of associated rights-of-way in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska (NPR-A). The rulemaking will establish pre-defined criteria for defined and repeatable common activities with similar environmental effects that, when met by an applicant, will result in streamlined permitting for qualifying production sites. By this notice, the BLM announces the beginning of the scoping process to solicit public comments and identify issues.
