Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment

This notice proposes an amendment to the Federal motor vehicle standard on lighting to allow the photometric conformance of center highmounted stop lamps to be determined by a grouping of test points. Such an action would be consistent with the agency's requirements for other lamps and would lessen the testing burden for manufacturers. This action is taken in implementation of a grant of a petition for rulemaking.
