Résumé
The Commission is issuing this Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on proposed regulations to specify in more detail and clarify the obligations of telecommunications carriers with respect to the use and protection of customer proprietary network information (CPNI) and other customer information. The Notice is being issued in response to formal and informal requests for guidance as to local exchange carriers' responsibilities under the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The objective of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking is to provide an opportunity for public comment and to provide a record for a Commission decision on the issues stated above.
