The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that, while the comment period on the advance notice of proposed rulemaking that appeared in the Federal Register of December 29, 1995 (60 FR 67492), will end on April 29, 1996, the agency will keep the record open to receive comments on one aspect of this rulemaking. The agency is taking this action in response to several requests for an extension to allow comments on the issue of harmonization of the food standards of FDA and those of the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
