The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the expanded safe use of 2,4-di-tert-pentyl-6-[1-(3,5-di-tert-pentyl-2- hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]phenyl acrylate as an antioxidant and/or stabilizer for polypropylene, polystyrene, rubber modified polystyrene, and styrene block copolymers intended for use in contact with food.
