The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that the Stilbene Whitening Agent Task Force has filed a petition proposing that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of benzenesulfonic acid,2'2'-(1,2-ethenediyl)bis[5-[[4-[bis(2- hydroxyethyl-amino]-6-[(4-sulfophenyl)amino]-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino]- ,tetrasodium salt as an optical brightener in paper and paperboard intended for use in contact with food.
