Importation of Vehicles and Equipment Subject to Federal Safety, Bumper and Theft Prevention Standards

Resumen

This notice responds to a petition for reconsideration of a final rule which amended Part 591 to adopt a continuous entry bond as an alternative to the single entry bond that is otherwise required to accompany the permanent importation of nonconforming motor vehicles to ensure their eventual compliance with the Federal motor vehicle safety standards. The provisions regarding the new bond are amended in minor respects to reflect the bond's true nature as a bond covering more than one vehicle under a single entry.
