NHTSA Grants Petition for Automatic Emergency Braking Standard on Heavy Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has approved a rulemaking petition from the Truck Safety Coalition, Center for Auto Safety, Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, and Road Safe America to establish a safety standard for automatic forward collision avoidance and mitigation systems on heavy vehicles, building on years of research into forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking technology.
