Federal Agencies Need OMB Approval for Public Information Collections

Before collecting certain public information, federal agencies must obtain approval from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and must solicit public comment on proposed collections, including extensions and reinstatement of previously approved collections, as mandated by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
