NHTSA Allows Importation of Nonconforming 1994 and 1996 Jeep Cherokee MPVs

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has made a decision to permit the importation of certain 1994 and 1996 left-hand drive (LHD) and right-hand drive (RHD) Jeep Cherokee multipurpose passenger vehicles (MPVs) that do not meet all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS), provided they are substantially similar to U.S.-certified versions and can be modified to comply with safety standards.
