NHTSA Denies Petition to Prevent Seat Belt Installation in Large School Buses
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has denied a petition by Mr. James E. Hofferberth to prevent the installation of seat belts in large school buses, stating that there is no justification for changing its policy on seat belt requirements in large public school buses. NHTSA also concluded that school buses equipped with seat belts do not have safety-related defects and do not need to be recalled.
