NHTSA Decides on Importation of Nonconforming Motor Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that certain motor vehicles not originally manufactured to meet all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards are eligible for importation into the United States, provided they are substantially similar to vehicles originally certified for importation and can be easily modified to meet the standards.
