NHTSA Denies Bluewater Network's Petition for Rulemaking on Fuel Economy Testing Procedures

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has denied a petition submitted by Bluewater Network, which sought to amend testing and calculation procedures for fuel economy information, as NHTSA lacks statutory authority to take such actions. The agency also rejected a request to use amended calculations in its annual report on the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) program.
