Federal Government Denies Petition to Mandate Vehicle Identification Number-Encoded Brake and Rear Running Lamps

The U.S. government has rejected a petition by Nicholas Bromer to update the Code of Federal Regulations to require vehicles to be equipped with special lamps that use vehicle identification numbers to aid law enforcement in identifying and preventing vehicle theft.
