NHTSA Releases Annual List of Defect and Noncompliance Decisions for Nonconforming Imported Vehicles
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a list of vehicles recalled by their manufacturers during Fiscal Year 1997 to address safety-related defects or noncompliance with Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS). The list includes vehicles that were substantially similar to imported vehicles not originally manufactured to meet all applicable FMVSS, and registered importers must notify owners and provide remedies for the defects or noncompliances.
