Notice of Submission of Proposed Information Collection to OMB; Loan Guarantees for Indian Housing

The proposed information collection requirement described below has been submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act. The Department is soliciting public comments on the subject proposal. The information is required by section 184 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1994, as amended by section 701 of the Native American Housing Assistance and Self- Determination Act of 1996 and implementing regulations at 24 CFR part 1005. HUD has the authority to guarantee loans for the construction, acquisition, rehabilitation or refinance of 1- to 4-family homes to be owned by Native Americans in restricted Indian lands or service areas. Mortgage lenders approved by HUD provide borrower and lender information to HUD for guarantee of the loan. If the information was not provided then HUD would be unable to guarantee loans and as a result lenders would be unable to provide financing to Native Americans.
