NHTSA proposes to rescind Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 107, Reflecting Surfaces. This proposed action is part of NHTSA's efforts to implement the President's Regulatory Reinvention Initiative to remove unnecessary regulations. The agency has tentatively concluded that market forces and product liability concerns will achieve the same results as Standard No. 107. Therefore, the Standard can be rescinded without affecting safety. Eliminating the Standard will remove the need to certify compliance with it.
