This document contains proposed regulations under sections 6051 and 6071 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 concerning the time for furnishing wage statements to both employees and the Social Security Administration upon the termination of an employer's operations. These proposed regulations will affect employers and their employees in the year the employer ceases to pay wages. These regulations will improve the wage reconciliation process between the Social Security Administration and the IRS.
