The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has granted Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (L-DEO), a unit of Columbia University, permission to disturb small numbers of marine mammals during a marine geophysical survey in the northwest Pacific Ocean from July to September 2010, in accordance with the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) regulations.
