NHTSA Receives Petition for Importation of Nonconforming Mercedes Benz G500 and G500 Cabriolet MPVs

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the receipt of a petition to determine if model year 2012-2014 Mercedes Benz G500 and G500 Cabriolet Multi-Purpose Vehicles that do not meet all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards are eligible for importation into the US due to their substantial similarity to U.S.-certified versions and ability to be modified to comply with safety standards.
