NHTSA Withdraws Proposed Rule for Event Data Recorders in Light Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) withdrew its December 13, 2012 notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) for a new Federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) requiring the installation of Event Data Recorders (EDRs) in most light vehicles, citing that nearly all new light vehicles now come equipped with EDRs.
