NHTSA Announces Eligibility for Importation of Nonconforming Motor Vehicles
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has made decisions allowing certain motor vehicles not originally manufactured to meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) to be imported into the US, as they are substantially similar to vehicles originally sold in the US and can be easily modified to meet safety standards.
