NMFS Prohibits Sablefish Retention in Gulf of Alaska

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has prohibited the retention of sablefish by vessels using trawl gear that do not participate in the Rockfish Program's cooperative fishery in the Central Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska, due to the 2016 total allowable catch limit being reached.
