NMFS Proposes Red Snapper Quota Retention Rule for Gulf of Mexico

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is proposing a rule to withhold 4.9% of the 2016 red snapper commercial quota before distributing it to red snapper Individual Fishing Quota Program (IFQ) shareholders on January 1, 2016, in order to allow the allocations established through Amendment 28 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Reef Fish Resources of the Gulf of Mexico to take effect for the 2016 fishing year.
