NMFS Proposes Regulations for Trade Monitoring of Seafood Products

Summary

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is proposing new regulations to improve the tracking and monitoring of seafood imports, exports, and re-exports, in compliance with the SAFE Port Act of 2006 and the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA). The proposed rules aim to integrate trade documentation into the government-wide International Trade Data System and require electronic information collection through the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) automated portal.
