NMFS Prohibits Pacific Cod Retention in Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area

Summary

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has taken action to prevent overfishing of Pacific cod in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area by prohibiting retention of the species by vessels participating in Amendment 80 limited access fisheries, which is necessary to stay within the 2010 total allowable catch limit of Pacific cod in the BSAI.
