NHTSA Denies Petitions from Bus Manufacturers to Modify Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for Large Buses
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has denied petitions from bus manufacturers IC Bus, LLC, Daimler Trucks North America, and Prevost to modify or revise Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards related to occupant crash protection on large buses. The denials are based on concerns that any changes to the standards could reduce their applicability and impact safety, contrary to Congressional intent.
