U.S. Pacific Tuna Fishery Closes Early Due to Catch Limit
Summary
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is closing the U.S. pelagic longline fishery for bigeye tuna in the eastern Pacific Ocean until December 31, 2014, due to the expected reach of the 2014 catch limit of 500 metric tons, in order to prevent the fishery from exceeding the catch limit established by the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) in Resolution C-13-01.
