NMFS Closes Atlantic Herring Fishery in Management Area 1A Due to High Catch Limit

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is closing the directed herring fishery in management Area 1A, as it projects that 92% of the 2014 catch limit for the area will be harvested by the effective date of this action, in order to comply with the Atlantic Herring Fishery Management Plan and prevent excess harvest in Area 1A.
